Ribbons and Bows Wedding Ring

54″x68″ • Fabrics: Natural Beauty by Amy Butler with Free Spirit

Ribbons and Bows

The Ribbons and Bows pattern was created in 2018 as a smaller version of Grandma’s Wedding Ring. The quilt uses a wedding ring assembly technique that requires construction in horizontal rows, instead of diagonal rows. In addition to an alternative assembly technique, this pattern also includes instructions for assembly of the center block as a 4-Patch instead of a block cut on the diagonal or cut as a solid piece. Also, check out the Creative Grids Templates that make trimming these blocks a breeze!

Arizona Cactus

42″x42″ • Fabrics: Mandarin Grove and Wallflowers by

Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Arizona Cactus

Here’s excellent beginner project using a 6″ Cactus block that’s been featured in several other Quiltworx patterns in a variety of layouts. With the release of this new version, we’ve updated the instructions to include Smart Corners and all of the other features you’ve come to expect from our patterns.

Cactus Flower Table Runners

17″x51″ • Fabrics: (White) Montana Sapphire & Wallflowers, (Light Blue) Montana Sapphire, Emerald, Mandarin Grove & Wallflowers, (Dark Blue) Tonga Jewels – Jade & Wallflowers

Cactus Flower Table Runners

This is a wonderful beginner pattern with the same 6″ cactus block featured in the Arizona Cactus pattern above. Cactus Flower Table Runner has been updated to our latest design standards as well.

Watermelon Placemats

18″x13″ • Fabrics: Mandarin Grove by Judy and Judel Niemeyer with

Timeless Treasures, and Java Blenders

Watermelon Placemats

Get ready for summer with these delectable placemats! Watermelon Placemats is a quick and easy project that is perfect for both veteran paper piecers, and those wanting to learn new techniques.

Yogo Sapphire Wall

80″x80″ • Fabrics: Montana Sapphire and Wallflowers by

Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Yogo Sapphire Wall

Yogo Sapphire was designed as a beginner pattern to introduce quilters to paper piecing and constructing an exploded star quilt layout. It is easily expandable to 99″x99″ with several different border designs by replacing Group C (pieced border) with Group D larger corner blocks. We used the Princess Tiara in this example:

Yogo Sapphire Queen

This design is also versatile because rotating the diamond blocks can create a completely new look! It’s super fun to play with the layout on the design wall or in Quiltster! Here are a few examples:

Rotation 1
Rotation 2
Rotation 3
Rotation 4

Hallo, I’m Wiwik from Bekasi, Indonesia.

I’ve always thought I’m a bit crafty since young age ;), so when I quit my job and my mom taught me sampler blocks in late ‘90s, I was immediately hooked. At that time, my dad still worked with an American oil company in Sumatera. Some of the expat (American) ladies taught P&Q to the employee wives including my mom.

I picked up more by learning from P&Q magazines & books, and the internet. Paper piecing was one of the techniques I learned and tried by myself (intrigued by those sharp edges) but quickly abandoned because I found it a bit bothersome.

But Judy’s techniques changed my opinion about machine paper piecing. I took a class here in Jakarta with CI Siska Dart in 2015, it was a really great experience and learned a lot. I decided to pursue a qualification with Quiltworx to become Certified Instructor by joining Quiltworx workshops in Melbourne in 2016 & 2018.

I taught P&Q to others since 2006. At first I participated in teaching sewing as life skills to junior high school students and to under-privilege ladies in Bekasi (social movement), then began teaching classes, and to other cities too such as Tangerang, Jakarta, Malang, Surabaya and Singapore.

I founded my studio, Melati Patchwork, to center all my P&Q activities, gather and manage a group of enthusiastic friends/quilters (around 30 active members). And to support demand of quilting service, my mom, my sister and I taught village ladies how to hand-quilt in Garut, West Jawa.

I also have organized/participated as organizer in other events such as:

  • Quiltworx Quilts Exhibition, Halim – Jakarta, 2016, for students who completed their quilts with CI Siska Dart
  • Pameran Merah Putih/Red & White Exhibition, August 2017 at Museum Tekstil Jakarta, a week event (exhibition, classes & product bazaar) with participants from all over Indonesia, to commemorate Indonesia 72th Independence Day.
  • Exhibition at Museum Layang2 Jakarta, 2018, with Kites theme (quilts & other crafts)

My teaching area as a CI, is in Indonesia for sure, but also other countries in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippine, Brunei, Vietnam) and other Asian countries also interest me if there is opportunity to teach there.

Quiltworx is partnering with Honest Fabric

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD?

Quiltworx is Partnering with Honest Fabric

We’re creating ready-to-quilt fabric panels that have all the beauty of Judy’s paper pieced designs, but none of the piecing!

WHY WOULD WE DO THAT, you’ve asked?!?

We know how passionate Judy addicts are about paper piecing…we are too! But, we also realize that there are many quilters out there who have more of a passion for quilting than paper piecing. For those quilters, these quilt top fabric panels are the best of both worlds!

Not only that, but what a great learning tool, right? Quilters who would like to dip their toes into free-motion or custom quilting, can do so without the fear of ruining an expensive and time-consuming pieced top. On the other hand, if a practice run turns out better than expected, you still have a beautiful quilt instead of just a plain piece of fabric…WIN WIN!

Finally, the quality of the printed fabrics is phenomenal. Honest Fabric prints their custom quilt tops with the highest quality polyester. Every piece is completely washing machine safe, will not bleed, and will not unjustly fade. The fabric is soft to begin with, and only gets softer and more buttery with each washing, without compromising the rich, vibrant colors.

On top of all of that, Honest Fabric products are American made, and eco-friendly. We think their product compliments ours beautifully, and fulfills a niche for our business.

With that said, we’re starting with the following two designs. We’re excited to be adding to new and exciting designs soon, so keep your eyes pealed for those along with pictures of finished products we’ll be sharing on Facebook! For now, we give you…

Blooming Lily Light & Dark

Cheryl Martel

Somerset, MA

Cheryl has been quilting for about 35 years, and her quilting journey began with her love for sewing and creating.

Seven years ago she saw a Bali Wedding Star hanging in my local quilt shop and decided she wanted to do that quilt. She jumped right in with a 104” x 104” Bali and was hooked.

From there she moved on to the Glacier Star and then the Fire Island Hosta. She kept taking classes and even came to Montana to do the rainbow color way for Mariner’s Compass.

Cheryl decided since she was already teaching quilting, she wanted to add paper piecing to her portfolio, and it has become her passion. There is no better feeling than to hear your students tell you they love Judy’s method and want to take more classes.

Judy’s patterns are so pretty and now with the mixers you can design your own quilt. The sky is the limit to what you can do.

Karen Bryant

Livonia, NY

Karen started quilting in 2004 and really enjoys using fabric to create warm and comforting quilts. She especially likes hand appliqué and paper piecing.

In 2013, her favorite quilt shop started offering classes featuring Judy Niemeyer patterns, and she fell in love with the designs.

Since then, she has made more than 20 of Judy’s quilts. In 2014, she started teaching at the shop, and enjoys helping her students develop proficiency with the techniques.

It is exciting to see the beautiful creations which are produced by the quilters in her classes!

Michele Rondot

Calgary, AB

Michele’s first experience with a Judy Niemeyer quilt was the ‘Bali Wedding Star’. Without any

guidance from a CI, it was a “hard slog, indeed”. Then she had an opportunity to meet Judy in person and with a much clearer understanding of Judy’s techniques, she was hooked.

With over 35 “Judy” quilts made, she then started to share her passion by teaching other quilters.

The organization, the step by step processes, the very logical approach all outlined in Judy’s patterns make these techniques suitable for one and all. Michele fully believes that when an investment in fabric and pattern is made with the hopes of creating a Quiltworx quilt, you deserve having a certified teacher by your side to support and guide your journey.

Sue Alexander

Fernly, NV

Sue, the owner of Certified Shop, A Stitch of Country, was introduced to the Judy Niemeyer paper piecing technique after seeing a pattern in a quilting magazine that she “just had to make!”, and fell in love with the technical and intricate aspect of the Quiltworx’s patterns.

Sue has a passion and eye for selecting colors. Sue is able to design quilts using Quiltster to assist and accommodate her customers’ visions. Since becoming a certified shop, she has furthered her interest by teaching paper piecing classes.

Sue found she had a talent in teaching these methods and wanted to share her enthusiasm with others by becoming a Certified Instructor.

Sue now has the distinction of being dual certified!

These instructors are available to teach classes at any quilt shop and are a resource for our Technique of the Month program. Get unmatched workshop experience by taking a class or booking them in your quilt shop today! Look for an instructor in your area here.

Cappuccino a Party for 4

The Cappuccino: A Party for 4 Placemats shown on the cover is our latest update to a very popular pattern designed by Judy and Brad Niemeyer several years ago. The pattern teaches a simple concept using two strips of fabric to create one appealing block design. This quilt was designed as a fun and fast quilt for all skill levels of quilters and is very fast to complete.

with Timeless Treasures

Midnight Safari

The Prairie Star pattern is a Quiltworx classic, now on it’s second update since inception. The latest version has some differences and is not compatible with previous versions. The size has changed just slightly, but the changes have mostly come from updates to piecing techniques, providing units that have more color options, and eliminating the use of Y-seams for final assembly.

with Timeless Treasures, and Java Blenders

Prismatic Star

Several NEW Digital Quilt Designs – Now Available!

We’re pleased to present the newest additions to our digital quilting library. If you’re looking for rich, beautiful, heirloom-quality designs that fit our latest patterns perfectly, they’ve arrived!

Most can be purchased as a complete package or in individual units, and are compatible with most commercial machines that can read quilting design files. Refer to the QUILT DESIGN web pages below for details.

Please note, spaces that are shown as blank in the design were quilted using line work following the shape of the units and pieces in the blocks. This type of quilting approach is typically easier to accomplish and place without a digitized option. It is up to you how you choose to quilt these open spaces!  To see how we quilted the open spaces, click on the links below labeled “…DIGITIZED DESIGN…“, and hover over the “Alternate Views” images.

Baby Bella

36″x36″ • Fabrics: Tonga Jewels – Amethyst & Jade, and Wallflowers by

Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Color Spectrum

The Baby Bella was designed as a beginner pattern to introduce quilters to paper piecing. The project does take a little time and introduces quilters to several Quiltworx techniques, but all of the seams are straight, there are no Y-seams or curved seams, and the result is an adorable miniature lone star block for you to enjoy.

Color Spectrum

73″x85″ • Fabrics: Tonga Jewels – Amethyst & Jade, and Wallflowers by

Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Color Spectrum

The Color Spectrum was designed as a beginner pattern to introduce quilters to paper piecing. The project is fast, uses only one foundation block, employs simple cutting techniques, and is an affordable and fun way to jump into your first paper piecing project.

Cosmos

91″x91″ • Fabrics: Hoffman Fabrics – Sparkle and Fade

Cosmos

The Cosmos foundation papers, strip piecing processes and color concept were designed by Quiltworx. The blocks in this quilt require a combination of paper piecing skills, strip piecing skills, and traditional piecing skills. Part of the Queen Star Mixer series, the diamonds used in this quilt are called the Ribbon Star, Basket Star, and the Shimmering Star. The diamonds are surrounded by a Blank Background and the fabrics are the perfect colorway to remind you of exploring the stars in your own rocket ship at warp speed.

Midnight Safari

99″x99″ • Fabrics: Island Batik

Midnight Safari

The Midnight Safari design was created using a series of mixer blocks from the Cattail Queen Mixer series. It includes four sections referred to as Groups A, B, C and D and these Group sizes have been standardized so that you can use interchangeable blocks in each space. The blocks selected for this quilt are named Ribbon Star, Star Shower, Barbed Wire Fence Border, and Braided Rope Queen expansion package. If you have purchased this pattern, these groups have been combined into one pattern.

Prismatic Star

68″x68″ • Fabrics: Prismatic Strip Set by

Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Prismatic Star

The Prismatic Star has been updated in 2018, making the diamond block slightly larger and creating templates for the sashing strips that reduce the number of stacked seams during assembly. While the original design has been a great pattern for Quiltworx, these improvements will make assembly easier and have enabled us to create a Queen Size Option. Please note that the size has changed, and the new pattern isn’t compatible with the old version.

Starry Night

A COLLECTOR’S CLUB DESIGN

68″x68″ • Fabrics: Emerald Mini Collection by

Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Prismatic Star

The Starry Night is a pattern for beginners, intermediate, and advanced quilters and has been designed with floating points, efficient yardage, and simple assembly steps. It can be expanded to a Queen Size quilt (99” x 99”) using one of several Quiltworx Expansion Packages. As a Collector’s Club Design, there are only 500 patterns available while supplies last.

Triple Divide

53″x59″ • Fabrics: Tonga Jewels – Amethyst & Jade, and Wallflowers by

Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Prismatic Star

Triple Divide was also designed as a beginner pattern to introduce quilters to paper piecing. The project is fast, uses only one paper piecing technique, employs simple cutting techniques, and is an affordable and fun way to jump into your first paper piecing project.

Succulent Jade
91″ x 91″ •
Fabrics: Tonga Jewels – Amethyst & Jade by

Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Our latest Queen Star Mixer pattern, Succulent Jade, is made up of 48 diamonds in 3 different designs, the Ribbon Star, Shimmering Star, and the Log Cabin Star.

Queen Star Mixers Galore!

Amethyst, Blue Lagoon, Diamonds in Bloom, Ice CastlesPrismatic Star Queen, Rainbow Crystal & Succulent Jade…What do all of these patterns have in common?  They’re all created from blocks designed for the new Queen Star Mixer!

For those of you that are crazy addicted to Quiltworx patterns, have you considered the value of Mixers? With Mixers, you can DEFINITELY save money over all. Say you bought all 5 patterns in the Sunrise Mixer series (Allisyn’s Wondered Land, Shattered Ruby, Sunsations Magnolia, Lakeshore Sunrise, and Butterfly Garden) the patterns would cost a total of $290. However, if you buy all the mixers, plus one Instruction Intro that works with all of them, the cost is only $245!

That saves $45 for those of you that collect patterns, which is nearly 50% of your Quiltster account cost each year. And, your collection still includes everything you need to make ALL 5 patterns. Plus, you can mix and match and create something that no one else has, and you can see what your quilt looks like in advance. You can see where Quiltster and Mixers can really give our valued customers, like you, more flexibility and more control, and the ability to BE UNIQUE!

Solar Flares
72″ x 72″ • Fabrics: Quiltworx Prismatic Strip Set by
Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Solar Flares is a Quiltworx favorite now in a new colorway designed to create a scrappy look using 2-1/2″ strips from the Prismatic Strip Set, a collection of 48 fabrics sorted into 6 groups of 8 fabrics ranging from light to dark colors.

Summer Solstice
60″ x 60″ • Fabric:  Tonga Jewels – Amethyst by Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Having run out of papers for this pattern, Summer Solstice has been revamped to a size that’s compatible with other mixer blocks currently available in Quiltster.  We’ve removed the Y-seams, and floated several points that were previously challenging to keep perfect and have also updated the technique for the lone star block to current technique standards.  Please note that this pattern is not compatible with the previous version.

Bali Wedding Star
80″ x 80″ •
Fabrics: Quiltworx Prismatic & Gypsy Strip Sets by Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

The latest version of our very popular Bali Wedding Star has been refreshed using 2 of our newest strip sets, Prismatic and Gypsy, and the instructions have been updated to offer two layout options.  The Rainbow Garden layout option is pictured on the cover sheet and quilt sample, but we’ve kept instructions for the more random layout option too!

Kaleidoscope
68″ x 68″ •
Fabric: Tonga Jewels – Amethyst by Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Part of the Kaleidoscope Wall Hanging Mixer, Kaleidoscope was designed using 24 diamonds including the Basket Star and Woven Star blocks.  We love these mixer patterns because their easily expandable to 80″x80″ or even 99″x99″ with compatible border mixers to suit your fancy.

Rainbow Crystal
91″ x 91″ •
Fabrics: Quiltworx Prismatic Strip Set by Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Rainbow Crystal is a great pattern for the beginner to intermediate quilter because there are no Y-seams or curved piecing.

Blue Lagoon
91″ x 91″ •
Fabric:  Tonga Jewels – Jade by Judy and Judel Niemeyer with Timeless Treasures

Created from the Queen Star Mixer, Blue Lagoon is inspired by tropical waters, and bright colorful fish.  It’s created from 48 diamonds in four different layouts including: the Ribbon Star, Razor Star, the 16-Colored Diamond, and the Blank Diamond.  The diamonds are surrounded by the Spiked Ring Background which really makes a splash (pun intended).

Two NEW Digital Quilt Designs – Now Available!

To see how we quilted the open spaces, click on the links below labeled “QUILT DESIGN“, and hover over the “Alternate Views” images.
