Sunshine on My Shoulders, designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer, is the featured large project in the 2027 Quiltworx Quilt Box Program, bringing together radiating star points, crisp geometry, and the warmth of a perfect summer day in a project that grows with you throughout the year. Pieced in the daisies and honeybees of Daisy Delights from QT Fabrics, this pattern showcases the signature precision and artistry of Judy Niemeyer, offering a rewarding foundation paper-piecing experience for confident beginners and seasoned quilters alike.

As part of the Quilt Box Program, Sunshine on My Shoulders includes a full year of online video instruction, released quarterly on the Quiltworx YouTube channel. Each segment focuses on a major component of the quilt, guiding you step-by-step through the construction process.

Expansion Options

Sunshine on My Shoulders begins as a 68″ square quilt, but you can grow your project into multiple larger sizes by purchasing expansion borders. Choose the path that fits your vision:

Expand from 68″ to 80″ – purchase a 281-D Border separately.
Expand from 68″ to 99″ – purchase a 242-D Border separately. We used the 99″ Queen’s Gambit Border.
Expand from 68″ to 118″ – purchase a 281-D Border and a 277-H Border separately.
Expand from 99″ to 118″ – purchase a 284-K Adjustable Border separately. We used the Floating Triangles Border.

All expansion options are available via the Buy Now button.

Everything You Need to Get Stitching

Want to make a second (or third!) sample? We carry replacement papers so you can keep the sunshine going. Pair them with our favorite notions to make piecing, trimming, and assembly a breeze:
