Starbaby

A little star with a big sparkle. Starbaby is one of our most popular small patterns, and this new colorway gives it a cool, crystalline glow. Shimmering aqua and soft lavender spin around a deep midnight center, all set against a frosted lilac background. The fabrics come from our ColorStock Collection, designed by Judy and Judel Niemeyer for Timeless Treasures.

Designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer, Starbaby is the perfect place to start if you’re new to foundation paper piecing. Four 16″ blocks come together to make a small lone star you can finish in just a few hours. Along the way, you’ll learn basic paper piecing techniques that carry over to many of our lone star projects. Experienced quilters will love it too, as a quick, satisfying project with a big payoff. It finishes at 32″ square, or add the optional border to grow it to 40″ square.

Hang it on the wall, drape it over a bed or favorite chair, or wrap it around someone brand new. It makes a lovely baby blanket.

Once you’ve caught the lone star bug, there’s plenty of room to grow. Goodnight Star repeats this same block over and over in a variety of color options, and you can play with different sized layouts in Quiltster. We also have a FREE online tutorial on our YouTube Channel, where Judy Niemeyer demonstrates Goodnight Star, which uses the same blocks as Starbaby. It’s full of great tips and techniques you can use on this pattern, too.

There are enough papers in this pattern to make two Starbaby wall quilts. Replacement Papers are available, so you can stitch it again in a fresh palette or try one of the larger layouts.
