Strike up the band! When the moon rises over the bayou, the string lights glow, and a riverboat full of jazz drifts past the Spanish moss, you’ll want a quilt that keeps the rhythm going. Blue Bayou is the newest pattern in our Kaleidoscope Exploded Queen Mixer series, and it swings from the first stitch to the last.
Watch the colors dance. Icy aqua, sky blue, and soft silver-white feathers fan out in a glowing, many-petaled star, set against a velvety midnight-black background that feels like a Louisiana night. Rhythmic bands of stepped blues pulse outward from the center like a bandstand beat, and the corner accents add a little syncopation. It’s a quilt with plenty of showstopping flair, and the real thing looks even better than the cover sheet.

Blue Bayou is sewn in fabrics from the Timeless Treasures ColorStock collection, designed by Judy and Judel Niemeyer. The blocks were designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer, and Judel Niemeyer created the colorway. The result is a cool, cohesive palette with enough contrast to make every feather and flourish pop.
