This breathtaking new addition to the Kaleidoscope Exploded Queen Mixer Series from Judy and Bradley Niemeyer captures the full drama of the season — the deep burgundy twilight of a fading afternoon, the fiery burst of orange and gold at the heart of a turning leaf, the rich navy shadows that settle between the trees as evening draws near. Set against a lush plum background, the exploded star radiates outward in layer after glowing layer, like a window looking into the best autumn day you’ve ever seen.

The design places the iconic Kaleidoscope block on point, with a square unit nestled into each point of the exploded star — a layout that creates stunning visual movement from the center medallion all the way to the outer edges. At 99″ × 99″, it fills a queen-size bed beautifully, and with the addition of the 284-K Border Package (sold separately), it expands to a grand 118″ square for those who want an even more dramatic presentation.

The pattern blocks were designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer, with the colorway brought to life by Judel Niemeyer using Quiltster, featuring fabrics from Free Spirit’s Assorted Collections by Tim Holtz. That fabric selection is inspired — the aged text prints, the layered burnished golds, the moody teals and smoldering reds give this quilt an artistic, almost painterly quality that feels simultaneously rustic and refined. Imagine it draped across a bed in a room with warm wood tones and candlelight, or displayed as a wall piece where it can command the space it deserves. The cover quilt was masterfully pieced and quilted by Michael Davison of Michael Quilts, and his work beautifully honors every detail of the design.
