Riptides was designed by Quiltworx as part of our Fireworks Block Mixer Series and features foundation paper piecing, floating points, Template Layout Sheets, and curved paper piecing techniques for attaching the veins — all hallmarks of the quality and craftsmanship our customers have come to expect. After paper piecing is complete, traditional curved piecing assembles the blocks. This quilt is wonderfully fun to make and easily adapted to strips and background fabric from your own stash.
The new cover colorway features fabrics from our ColorStock Basics Collection, designed by Judy and Judel Niemeyer. ColorStock was created with versatility in mind — whether you want a bold rainbow of color or a dramatic single-colorway statement, the rich gradation from lights to darks across every hue in the collection gives you extraordinary depth and dimension. Riptides is a stunning example of what ColorStock can do, achieving a colorway remarkably similar to the original publication — even as many of those original fabrics have since been discontinued. It’s proof that great design endures, and that the right fabric collection can carry it forward.

- To expand to 68″, use the border papers in the pattern, and then from 68″to a 99″ Queen, purchase one of the 242D borders listed under the Buy Now button.
