Pre-cutting the fabrics is a mandatory requirement prior to taking this course. Please begin preparing for class at least 3-WEEKS prior to the class to make sure that you are able to get familiar with your pattern and complete the pre-cutting before hand. It is important that you have your pre-class cutting completed. If this step is not completed, you will have a very difficult time keeping up and participating in the instruction. We recommend reading through your entire pattern before beginning.

Fabric Selection: Three Ducks In a Row is made using 20 light fat quarters and 20 dark fat quarters. Please refer to the yardage chart on the back of your pattern for information on the yardage needed for the inner border, binding, and backing.

Preparing the Template Sheets: Please refer to ‘Unit A, Template Cutout Sheet’ on page 2 of your pattern. Also refer to ‘Unit E, Template Cutout Sheet’ on page 3 of your pattern.

Preparing the Foundation Papers: Please refer to ‘Prepare the Foundations Papers’ and ‘Unit A, Tempate Cutout Sheet’ on page 2 of your pattern. You only need to cut out one page each of Unit A and Unit B1 before class. Judy will demonstrate a faster method of cutting out the rest of your papers during class!

Cutting Instructions: Before your start cutting your fabric, we recommend checking our website for corrections.

  • Follow Cutting Instructions: (80)Unit-A Blocks steps 1-4 on page 2 of your pattern. Note: Do NOT subcut the Template Layout sheet as Judy will go over this in class! Clip the fabric pieces and template layout sheets together and place in bag #1.
  • Follow Cutting Instructions: (18)Unit B1 Border steps 1-4 on page 3 of your pattern.
