Northern Lights showcases a popular Quiltworx block that has appeared in several of our designs over the years — and for good reason. Each block uses 2 strips of fabric, one black and one northern light inspired fabric in a variety of colors and is then paired with background fabric and straight seams, making this a beginner-friendly pattern that just glows! Whether you’re brand new to FPP or a seasoned stitcher looking for a fun, satisfying project, Northern Lights is designed to be fast, enjoyable, and deeply rewarding.
The cover colorway, designed by Judy herself, was inspired by the natural phenomenon we are lucky enough to experience here in Northwest Montana, and draws from the newest ColorStock fabrics by Timeless Treasures — a luminous collection of dark, jewel-toned batiks spanning every shade of the rainbow. Set against a rich, deep sashing, the colors seem to glow from within, just like the real northern lights dancing above a snow-covered wilderness. The cover quilt was beautifully quilted by Cathie Sollman, featuring an edge-to-edge design in the center with an elegant feathered border addition.
