Desert Sky

Desert Sky has long been one of our most popular patterns for beginners, and it’s refreshed regularly to showcase current fabric collections and updated techniques. This edition is the featured Small Box project for the 2027 Q2 Quiltworx Box Program, and it’s also available as a stand-alone pattern for everyone to enjoy.

This 48″ × 54″ quilt is a welcoming first step into foundation paper piecing, with bold color, a satisfying build, and a finish that looks far more complex than it is. If you’re new to paper piecing, it’s a wonderful place to begin. If you’re a seasoned maker, it’s a fun, fast showcase for your favorite fabrics.

Keep the Creativity Going

Replacement papers are available for making a second (or third!) quilt. A digitized quilting design is also available to add polish to your finished top. We also offer a curated selection of notions to make paper piecing and assembly easier, including:
