Step into the spotlight with PopStar, the newest starlet in our Kaleidoscope Mixer series. Measuring a bold 50″ x 50″, this radiant wall or throw quilt dazzles with color and energy—and with optional expansion up to 93″, it’s ready to take center stage in any space.

The cover quilt bursts to life with fabrics from the Timeless Treasures ColorStock collection, designed by Judy and Judel Niemeyer. It’s a riotous rainbow spectacle that transforms any room into a celebration of color and creativity.

✨ Design Details
PopStar is built from two dynamic sections:

Group A features (8) center diamonds crafted from our 2217DIA blocks, forming a brilliant starburst at the heart of the quilt.
Group D adds a pieced border that squares up the star with playful, stage-inspired blocks—perfect for showcasing bold prints and vibrant hues.

The quilt blocks were designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer, with layout and colorway curated by Judel Niemeyer using Quiltster, ensuring every detail sings in harmony.

🎶 Make It Yours
Whether you’re a seasoned quilter or just beginning your journey, PopStar offers a joyful introduction to strip piecing with a gentle curve that’s both approachable and satisfying. Replacement Papers are available if you’d like to make a second quilt, and notions like straight and curved rulers, folding templates, threads, and glue sticks are recommended to make your sewing experience smooth and efficient.

📏 Expansion Options
While PopStar wasn’t originally designed for larger formats, here are a few creative ways to scale it up:

Option 1: Double the Fun
- Make a second sample (Pattern + Replacement Papers, or (2) Replacement Papers if you’ve already made the pattern)
- Make two sets of blocks, and follow the instructions in the pattern for On-Point assembly.
- Result: a vibrant 71″ square quilt
Option 2: Adjustable Borders
- Purchase either a 284-K-001 or 002 Adjustable Border
- Adds 22″ to the outside of the original 50″ quilt
- Result: a bold 72″ quilt
Option 3: On-Point + Borders
- Complete the on-point 71″ layout (Option 1)
- Add the Adjustable Borders
- Result: a show-stopping 93″ quilt

This pattern is available in Quiltster! This means you can color the quilt with your favorite fabric collections in Quiltster before you make it. Quiltster will even provide you with yardage! You can also purchase kits designed by Quiltster Sellers right in the application!
