Judy and Bradley Niemeyer, with Quiltworx.com, designed the foundation blocks used to make the Osprey’s Nest: At the Lake Cabin. This pattern release updates the colorway and yardage to another pattern we have on the market called simply the Osprey’s Nest. It is the same size and the same foundation papers. However, the directions have been updated for the color approach used in the sample on this coversheet. In contrast the original pattern, which is also available for purchase, this version uses a much simpler color palette and uses the same color of blocks for each of the three columns in the design, instead of changing the lights from column to column to column.
The Osprey’s Nest: At the Lake Cabin pattern is made from Judy and Judel Niemeyer’s Reclaimed West fabric collection. The feature fabric is “Lake”, which was designed from a photograph taken from a kayak in the middle of Flathead Lake at sunset. Osprey live on these lakeshores during the summer and the nest look of this quilt design was the perfect fit for the fabric.
The Osprey’s Nest: At the Lake Cain is part of a series of patterns designs using Quiltworx.com Log Cabin blocks. There are several patterns in our inventory that use a similar concept of Log Cabin construction, many that use a cutout option, which can be used in other pattern designs of ours as well. Look for Spurs, another Quiltworx.com Quilt Design, to find a quilt sample and yardage information if you want to make a Companion Quilt using the left-over arcs from the design!
We would like to provide a special thank you to Shelley McConnville from Certified Shop, Pat’s Creative for piecing the quilt sample for the Osprey’s Nest! A Quiltworx.com Digitized Quilting Design was used to quilt the top and the quilting was completed by JoAnn Hoffman. Thank you to both of you for helping us make this project a reality!
