About Our Shop
Rena Hastings, owner and founder of Stitch n’ Snip, started sewing when she was 8 years old. Descending from a long line of seamstresses, Rena fell in love with the patterns, colors and designs that provided her with so many creative options. Rena always dreamed of having her own quilt shop where she could share her passion with others and be a part of their creative journeys as well.
In October 2004, her dream finally started to take root when she and her husband moved up to the little town of Garden Valley, Idaho, nestled among scenic mountains, and bought a store that she could mold into her quilt shop of dreams.
Within a few short months, Rena transformed the store into a wonderland of fabric. Her cozy shop soon became a main staple in Garden Valley and beyond, inspiring people to drive long distances to pay a visit to Rena’s quaint and welcoming shop. Any one of her customers will tell you that she has a heart of gold. She pours all that she has in to her shop and encourages students to improve their skills by guiding and uplifting them. Seeing the joy and accomplishment of our customers, makes it worth all the work and effort. To provide a great atmosphere that quilters can feel at home and learn new things is what drives us to excel.
Her daughter, Anna Gardner, was able to finally come home to join her in 2013 to add her talents of teaching, pattern writing, and visual merchandising skills. Anna has taught quilting classes for 10 years and has a background in clothing design and construction. One of her loves is playing with color and helping pick out kits and fabric for customers. She enjoys sharing Rena’s dream by using her talents to enhance the wonderful world of quilters.
