| Japanese Fan
Japanese Fan is a colorwash quilt designed for Foundation Paper Piecing using a collection of 20 Japanese floral prints. The prints were picked from a combination of large and small floral designs. A variety of yellow, beige, peach, green, lavender and teal were used for the light and medium background fabrics. A collection of black, navy blue, teal, green, burgundy, purple, and blue were used as dark fabrics for the spikes and several pieces in the background. The yardage amounts were designed so an equal amount of yardage is used for each color. This simplifies the cutting process by allowing you the ability to stack and slice the fabrics in one step. If you purchase the recommended 7/8 yard cuts of the twenty fabrics, you should have between 3” and 6” left over on each one 7/8 yard piece of fabric after you complete your cutting.
We have designed three additional sizes for this pattern. Double, Queen, and King. Extra foundation papers can be purchased to increase the size of this pattern to any of the three sizes listed. The yardage information and layouts for the three larger patterns will be included with each of the extra foundation packages. These instructions do not include any of that information.
89” by 89” 99” by 99” 109” by 109”
Completion of any of the larger quilts will require the purchase of extra foundation papers packaged so that when included with this pattern, the combined amount will be sufficient for whichever larger size you wish to complete. The extra foundation papers or sold and packaged separately for each size. The extra foundation packages will include additional foundation papers, cutting instructions, and additional yardage requirements for each size.
