Tami comes from a long line of women handy with a sewing machine. She first learned to sew on her Grandmothers sewing machine and has fond memories of helping Grandma hand tie quilts that were on a very large wooden frame.
Tami purchased her first sewing machine when she was 17 years old and enjoyed making clothes and items for the home when time permitted.
After retiring from a long and successful career with a Fortune 500 company and the death of her husband she looked for things to stay busy.
A friend asked her to repair an apron leading Tami to create her own reversible apron pattern. She designed and sewed many colorful aprons for friends and family that led to orders for more. With a heaping pile of scraps a new passion for quilting was born. Tami joined the stitchers club in her community and began to learn everything she could about Quilting and then decided to go to work at a local a Quilt shop.
In 2014 Tami saw a Quiltworx pattern quilt at stitchers club show and tell – how absolutely beautiful and colorful the quilt was. A few weeks later she met a certified Quiltworx instructor who was teaching a technique of the month class at the shop where she worked. The first pattern Tami tackled was the Mini Stars table runner and from there Mariners Compass, a technique quilt. The Quiltworx method of foundation paper piecing fits her to a tee. The organization and techniques lend themselves to amazingly beautiful creations.
Quiltster is a favorite tool for creating unique colorways for Quiltworx patterns. Tami first used Quiltster to create the colorway for her Vintage Rose Queen in 2017.
Students are encouraged to use Quiltster to create their own one of a kind colorway creation for class.
Tami is an instructor at Arizona Quilts in Surprise Arizona specializing in Quiltworx paper piecing classes, and is available to teach for Guilds and sewing clubs in the area. Tami is willing to teach summer classes in Southern Minnesota and Wisconsin. When not teaching or sewing more Quiltworx samples for class, Tami enjoys machine embroidery, making tote bags, purses, knitting, card making, and enjoying time with her 70 lb. Boxer named Rocco.
Sorry, there are no classes scheduled for Tami Meade at this time.
