Born in Margaret River Western Australia, a good few years ago, and grew up 28 miles south of that … about as far south and west as you can go on the Australian landmass. The daughter of a farmer and timber miller Father, and a crafty and handy Mother. For the last 30 Years, my main home has been in Northern Ireland, homeland of my Husband.
I began quilting about 22 years ago. Went home to Australia for my annual family visit, and my Sister had been to a patchwork class. She insisted that I would Love it! And I did. I headed home to Ireland from Australia with my first cutting board, rotary cutter and ruler, a book that had a pattern for a huge fence rail quilt in it. Along with that, a whole bunch of the ugliest fabrics you have ever seen. They were all ‘little busies’. This is the type of fabrics I thought all quilts were made from. I still have this first quilt!!
I have moved on from there, learning as much as I could from as many as possible, With various awards for my quilting efforts along the way. The latest being First Place at FOQ Birmingham, UK, with my Quiltworx designed Quilt ‘Paradise in Boom’.
I have been teaching patchwork for about 15 years, and am also a LongArm Quilter and owner of a small Herd of elderly Alpacas.
My current passion for Judy’s foundation pieced patterns was begun when a friend suggested we take a class in Melbourne Australia with a view of becoming a CI for Quiltworx. I really enjoy the Niemeyer way of paper piecing and went on from there to complete my accreditation.
I will be available to teach in The United Kingdom and Ireland, with my home base being uniquely positioned in the UK but on the island of Ireland. I will also be available to teach for a small part of the year in Western Australia, as I am lucky enough to have a home in Bunbury and get to spend a smaller part of the year there too.
Sorry, there are no classes scheduled for Robyn Fahy at this time.
