For as long as I can remember I have always enjoyed craft and needlework, sewing, cross stitch, embroidery, tapestry, dressmaking and leadlighting. Living in Rotorua I also enjoy the lakes and bush, participating in mountain biking, running and swimming.
I first started patchwork forty years ago when supplies were severely limited in New Zealand. I have strayed from time to time to try different crafts but my love of quilting always wins out, my favourite techniques are foundation piecing and English paper piecing. As an accountant who loves patchwork, I always said that my time would come, and it did, we sold our farm machinery business some years ago and with great joy my time arrived.
I fell in love with the ‘Glacier Star’ pattern but unfortunately this was not available in New Zealand so I did some enquiries and learnt that there was going to be a ‘Vintage Rose’ workshop in Noosa, Australia the following month and the rest is history. I am totally obsessed with the Quiltworx patterns and methods. As a longarmer I also enjoy the challenge of quilting the quilts.
It is very rewarding and exciting for me to be bringing this opportunity to New Zealand and see students complete and enjoy making their projects, I love the teaching aspect of being a certified tutor and passing on my knowledge to others.
I love the Quiltworx patterns and the techniques that ensure absolute precision every time. My portfolio of Quiltworx projects is continually growing and I am obsessed with making them!
As the Approved Certified Instructor for New Zealand I am available to teach classes wherever the need arises: shops, guilds, retreats or even private groups anywhere in New Zealand.
