Jenny is from Judy’s hometown of Kalispell, MT and currently works at our Certified Shop, Glacier Quilts in Kalispell. She grew up in Kalispell and then joined the Air Force right after graduating high school. She served a 20 year career in the Air Force and retired in 2008. Her husband is also a veteran and served in the Army, so she stayed home with their 2 children until he retired in 2014. This gave her plenty of time to sew and quilt while the kids were in school. During this time her passion for quilting grew bigger and bigger. She grew up sewing, knitting, crocheting, and making jewelry and has always been an avid crafter, but didn’t really become a quilt addict until she wanted to make a baby quilt for her son in 2004. She loves to learn new techniques and new quilt patterns from reading books and quilting blogs, taking workshops and classes as well as watching the latest tutorials online.
When her husband’s job took their family to Texas in 2014, she started working at a local retreat center and quilt shop to meet other quilters and expand her hobby. It was there that she started teaching quilting and machine embroidery classes. Jenny caught the Quiltworx bug when a customer brought in a Bali Wedding Star quilt to show and tell at the shop. She was instantly inspired to make her first Quiltworx quilt, the Desert Sky. After that, she was hooked on the process and organization structure of Judy’s paper piecing and other techniques that can be used in traditional quilting as well. She really enjoys teaching and inspiring her students with new techniques and skills as well as sharing tips and tricks she has picked up along her sewing and quiltling journey. Jenny also believes that her students should leave her workshops with the confidence to complete their projects.
In the summer of 2015, her family moved back to Montana and soon after Jenny started working at Glacier Quilts. She took her first retreat workshop from Judy and another CI (Tammy Doane) in the fall of 2015. She has continued to pursue her passion of learning about and making a variety of Quiltworx quilts. She loves helping customers pick out fabrics using Quiltster and teaching Quiltworx workshops. In 2016, she attended the recertification workshop with Glacier Quilts shop owner and decided to continue her Quiltworx training and pursue the Certified Instructor training program.
Jenny is an avid quilter and became a longarm quilter in 2015. She has an APQS Millenium and loves to do free motion and custom quilting. She hopes to add a computertized IQ system to her machine in the future so she can start utilizing some of the digitized Quiltworx designs.
