My memories of my childhood were being surrounded by family and the excitement of seeing what new adventure into the world of crafts was going to appear in a box from Montgomery Ward at the front door. Whatever was trending at the time we surely were going to be exposed to it. Nights were spent in house coats, sewing in the attic bedroom with my Mom sitting at the machine sewing and my Aunt Myra ironing. Many clothes for us and my dolls were lovingly stitched. I continued to follow in these footsteps until their death. I essentially was left with a void that needed to be filled.
This is when I stopped making clothing and opened my door to a brand new world. The quilting industry! I quilted for many years and wanted to challenge myself. That challenge was attending my first Judy Niemeyer 3 day class with a Certified Instructor to do Glacier Star. I had never paper pieced, fabric needed to be purchased and everything had to be cut out and ready to go. Talk about intimidation! After completing that class it was a turning point in my life. Two years later I was a Certified Instructor for Quiltworx.
My accomplishment has been so rewarding. I have received numerous ribbons at the Fulton County Quilt Show, have been the featured quilter at 2 events and I am designing Judy Niemeyer Quilts for Batiks Etc and Sew What Fabrics. I love to teach and do trunk shows. I am blessed to have been introduced to the world of art at a very young age and I want to pass on what I have learned and open up a creative domain for others to carry on to the next generation. To learn to sew is to learn a skill that lasts a lifetime.
